Research Grants from DIKTI

Research grants from DIKTI, Ministry of Education and Culture, are managed by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (Direktorat Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat, DITLITABMAS). DITLITABMAS encourages and facilitates lecturers at all universities in Indonesia to conduct research and community service activities nationally and internationally.

In 2012, DITLITABMAS introduced SIM-LITABMAS, a new multi-year procedure for submission of proposals for and assessment of research grants and community service activities. The mechanism requires that research is completed within a maximum period of three years to ensure better research output.

See the complete guideline for DIKTI’s grant programs at http://simlitabmas.dikti.go.id/ in the National Competitive Research section (top left), then click on the desired grant program.

Short Guideline for DIKTI Grants

  1. General Provisions

The chief researcher/executor is a permanent university lecturer whose national lecturer registration number (Nomor Induk Dosen Nasional, NIDN) is registered with the University Database (Pangkalan Data Perguruan Tinggi, PDPT) available at: http://forlap.dikti.go.id.

Members of a research team are lecturers who have NIDN. Researches who are not lecturers must fill in agreement forms.

Proposals are submitted through the research body and/or community service body and the top leader of the university of the applicant.

A lecturer may submit two research proposals (one in his/her capacity as chief researcher and another as a team member in different schemes) and two community service activity proposals (one in his/her capacity as chief researcher and another as a team member under different schemes).

A lecturer may be involved in only two research or community service activities with two different schemes (one as chief researcher/team leader and the other as a team member under two different schemes).

In the event that a research or community service activity is terminated prior to its completion date due to negligence on the part of researcher/executor or if there is evidence of duplication of research or community service fund or if a researcher renews a proposal for previously funded research or community service activity, the chief researcher/executor will be prohibited from submitting research or community service proposals funded by DITLITABMAS for 2 (two) consecutive years and will be obliged to return the research or community service grant to the state treasury.

  1. Phases of Activity

Research funded by DIKTI grants follows three phases, namely submission of proposal, execution and reporting. Research is a multi-year activity that shall be completed within a maximum period of three years.

All phases of research activity are to be conducted through SIM-LITABMAS, starting with registration of the chief researcher to obtain a username and password from his/her university.
