Research Grants

Domestic research grants are awarded by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI), Ministry of Education and Culture, government ministries and non-ministerial government offices, non-government organizations and universities. Universitas Indonesia, for example, awards reseach grants through the Directorate of Research and Community Service (Direktorat Riset dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, DRPM UI). Overseas grants are awarded by foreign institutions. DRPM UI awards UI Research Grants and DIKTI’s Research Grants under Decentralization Schemes (self-managed by UI) exclusively to UI lecturers and researchers.

Collaborative research conducted by researchers from different universities is funded by DIKTI through the Research Grant under National Competition Schemes and the universities involved in the collaboration (e.g. UI Collaborative Research Grants). The Ministry of Finance also awards research grants through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education under the Productive and Innovative Research (RISPRO) Program.
