DEPOK – (26/9/2021) On Sunday (26/9/2021), going through the FEB UI Calling Program with the hashtag “Giving Back to our Beloved Campus”, the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI FEB UI) together with PT. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) and the Institute for Economic and Community Research (LPEM) inaugurated the FEB UI Department of Economics (IE) Building offline at the Dean’s Building and IE Department Building online via Zoom.

The IE FEB UI Department Building, which was inaugurated consists of 8 rooms, namely (1) Lobby, Auditorium, MOOC and Podcast donated by ILUNI FEB UI; (2) Computer Laboratory donated by PT. SMI; (3) Project Room donated by the Class of 1981 (FEDESA) alumni; (4) Co Working Space and Journal Production donated by alumni 1983; (5) Discussion and Examination room donated by 1987 alumni; (6) Lounge 2nd floor donated by alumni 1988; (7) Professor room 1st floor donated by alumni 2008; and (8) the Permanent Lecturer room donated by LPEM.

The event, which was held at the Selasar Dean’s Building, began with remarks from the Acting Dean of FEB UI and the Chair of ILUNI FEB UI, signing the minutes of the renovation of the IE FEB UI Department Building for 8 rooms, symbolic giving of appreciation to 3 Tendik (Educational Staff), namely Moh. Then, to the IE FEB UI Department Building to cut the jasmine ribbon for 8 rooms symbolizing that the building has been inaugurated. The event closed with group photos and greetings.

Acting Dean of FEB UI, Teguh Dartanto, Ph.D. gave a speech that the renovation of the IE FEB UI Department Building was able to be  carried out thanks to the collaboration between ILUNI FEB UI, PT. SMI, and LPEM. Although the renovation is in the IE Department, some of the rooms can be dedicated to the Faculty, such as the multimedia room, MOOC and Podcast (as a response to the use of the space, the Faculty has established the Center for Education and Learning of Economics and Business/CELEB).

FEB UI has responded to the development of millennial/digital era lectures for compulsory subjects, namely leadership and entrepreneurship whereby lecturers/teachers collaborate with ILUNI FEB UI. In this case, students are free to choose one subject, between leadership and entrepreneurship that interests them. “On behalf of the FEB UI leadership, I would like to thank ILUNI FEB UI for donating to renovate the IE FEB UI Department Building as well as coordinating fundraising with various parties, starting from FEB UI alumni Class of 81, 83, 87, 88, 2008, PT. SMI, and LPEM, so that the renovations were carried out smoothly.” Teguh explained at the end of his speech.

The same thing was conveyed by the Chair of ILUNI FEB UI, Destry Damayanti, who said that the idea of the ILUNI FEB UI legacy for the FEB UI campus originally came from the thoughts of Mirza Adityaswara, the previous Chair of ILUNI. So far, ILUNI activities are dedicated to FEB UI by providing a sense of concern such as renovations, scholarships, sponsorships, and so on. Currently, ILUNI has created a new wallet/program, called FEB UI Calling. This shows that the relationship between ILUNI and FEB UI is relatively fluid and sustainable by trying to maintain the governance and professionalism of FEB UI. Not only that, ILUNI also has a Gotong Royong Program in helping the wider community cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. All programs and activities carried out by ILUNI FEB UI utilize networking with stakeholders, both companies/industry and fellow alumni.

According to Destry, specifically for the renovation of the IE FEB UI Department Building, ILUNI FEB UI has requested permission to use the funds from the ILUNI board of trustees and foundations. Funds were also collected from fellow alumni Class of 81, 83, 87, 88, and 2008. In addition, ILUNI expanded its wings by coordinating with other alumni friends in the corporation, namely PT. SMI. This renovation donation is a token of ILUNI’s concern for FEB UI. Of course, ILUNI wants FEB UI to continue to improve and carry out its mandate, because the challenges that will be faced next are not easy.

“I appreciate and welcome the latest FEB UI program which involves ILUNI FEB UI to provide leadership and entrepreneurship teaching. We, ILUNI are very enthusiastic to participate in the program as a driving innovation in the Indonesian economy. One of the success criteria of a university is determined by how the alumni contribute to the university.” Destry said in closing her remarks.
