ILUNI FEB UI Holds A National Seminar on Golden Indonesia 2045, “EscapingĀ  the Middle-Income Trap”

DEPOK – (27/11/2020) Towards its 100 years of independence in 2045, Indonesia still faces several major challenges, such as optimizing opportunities from the demographic bonus and escaping the middle-income trap. Various ideas and suggestions from the younger generation are urgently needed in order to better understand the various trends and challenges that exist. The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI FEB UI), views that the sharp and insightful thoughts of the younger generation will provide many innovations that will encourage more efficient and inclusive economic development in Indonesia.

ILUNI FEB UI held the 2045 Golden Indonesia National Seminar, entitled “Escape the Middle-Income Trap,” to provide actual contribution to the country and help strengthen Indonesia’s economic growth, on Friday (27/11/2020). Prior to this National Seminar, scientific writing competitions were held for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This National Seminar was opened by Destry Damayanti, General Chair of ILUNI FEB UI. Followed by a Keynote Speech by Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Ph.D., Indonesian Minister of Finance and Prof. Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of FEB UI.

The discussion was moderated by Tommy Tjokro and presented 3 speakers, Prof. Iwan Jaya Azis, Ph.D., Professor of FEB UI, also a professor at Cornell University, who discussed Escaping the Middle-Income Trap; Muhamad Chatib Basri, FEB UI Lecturer, deliberated the Capacity for the Role of Institutions in Achieving the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045; and Prijono Sugiarto, President Commissioner of PT Astra International Tbk, discussed Look Ahead Lead Beyond: Astra Experience .
