UI Holds Virtual Graduation for 7,377 D-3 to S-3 Graduates

DEPOK – (16-17 / 10/2020) Universitas Indonesia (UI) Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D., headed the Graduation Ceremony for the Undergraduate Program (Regular, International, Parallel & Extension) & the Vocational Education Program for the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year, and also welcoming new students for the 2020/2021 academic year on Friday, October 16, 2020, virtually.

Without taking away the solemnity of the graduation ceremony, even though the graduates attended the virtual graduations in their respective homes, the UI Rector, UI Vice Rectors, University Secretaries (UI), Head of the Cooperation, Ventura and Digital UI Agency (seven people) were present at the UI Hall, Depok Campus to carry out the graduation ceremony procession directly, by implementing the necessary health protocols.

The total number of UI graduates from the Vocational level to Doctoral level, were 7,377 people, and 2,773 of them were graduates with cum laude predicates. On the first day of graduation (16 October 2020), UI commenced 4,785 graduates consisting of 2,717 regular undergraduate program graduates, 219 international class undergraduate program graduates, 826 parallel undergraduate program graduates, 127 extension undergraduate program graduates, and 896 Vocational Education graduates.

In his speech, Prof. Ari Kuncoro said, “In the midst of a pandemic situation, UI is still doing a full learning experience. Information and communication technology continue to be improved to ensure the continuity of the teaching and learning process. Various innovations have been made and continue to be perfected to integrate advances in information technology with a curriculum that is more relevant to the needs of society and the Indonesian nation through the Merdeka Campus program which was launched by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture”.

Prof. Ari also advised the graduates to always develop knowledge and innovation as a service to the Indonesian nation, to create independent and highly competitive people, both in the current pandemic era and in the post-pandemic era.

In the regular undergraduate program, 1,094 graduates achieved the cum laude predicate, with the highest-Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.99 which was achieved by I Gede Sthitaprajna Virananda from the Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UI) study program. Next, in the international class undergraduate program, 58 people graduated cum laude. Natasya Lucky from the Accounting study program – Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UI) achieved the highest GPA in the international class undergraduate program, with a GPA of 3.98.

A total of 155 graduates of the parallel undergraduate program achieved the cum laude predicate with the highest GPA of 3.94 achieved by Nadira Istirahmah from the Korean Language and Culture study program – Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB UI). In the vocational education program, 527 graduates achieved the cum laude predicate with the highest GPA achieved by Dwiana Zahara Herman from the creative advertising study program with a GPA of 3.95. The youngest cum laude graduate was Halimah Ratna Rusyidah, who successfully graduated from the S1 Regional Literature for Javanese Literature – FIB UI with a GPA of 3.6, at the age of 18 years and 3 months.

The UI virtual graduation ceremony involved 50 IT teams and a committee. In addition to holding a graduation at the university level, UI also facilitated graduates to attend graduations at the faculty/school/vocational levels, which were headed directly by the respective Deans/ Directors. This graduation is a valuable and proud moment, not only for the graduates, but also for parents/guardians of students. In addition, in this virtual graduation ceremony, UI also welcomed new UI students. In the future, this virtual graduation ceremony will become a separate historical record for future generations.

On the second day, 17 October 2020, UI commenced 2,592 graduates from the Professional, Specialist, Masters and Doctoral Programs. The graduates consist of 393 regular professional program graduates, 46 international class professional program graduates, 303 specialist 1 (Sp-1) program graduates, 51 specialist 2 (Sp-2) program graduates, 1,707 master program graduates, and 92 doctoral program graduates.
