LM FEB UI Webinar: The Latest Issue of Sloan Management Review

Depok (14/07/2020) – The Management Institute at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (LM FEB UI) as a prominent institute of consulting in Indonesia, reviews national and international scientific publications to gain relevant information and insights on global phenomenon.

Of all the aspects affected, the economy has been one of the worst affected sectors. All elements in the economy should make adjustments to the changing environment. Adjustments have been made by all parties who play a role in the market, namely regulators that issue regulations that suit domestic and foreign conditions, business people who continue to implement corrective actions to maintain business continuity, and consumers who have adopted a different mindset and consumption pattern.

The phenomenon was analyzed by academics in the field of management sciences in a webinar series held by LM FEB UI on 14 July 2020. Speakers at the webinar were Sumiyarto, SE., MBA., Riani Rachmawati, SE., MA., Ph.D., and Thamrin PH Simanjuntak, MM, CAAE.

The webinar discussed a limited study by the MIT Sloan Management Review (MIT SMR) in articles dealing with the global pandemic situation.

Apart from the fact that MIT SMR is a renowned scientific publication that is widely used by academics around the world, the selection was also made based on the relevance of the articles in MIT SMR, which are more focused in their discussion compared to other scientific publications that tend to discuss general issues in management sciences.

MIT SMR is relatively faster and up-to-date in publishing articles that discuss hot topics or phenomenon.

To get the results that best describe the current conditions, apart from using the MIT SMR articles in the period 2018-2020, a review of several articles related to the global pandemic situation was also conducted.

Data was collected online through official portals from the databases of national and international scientific publications from 2009 to 2020.

Research and studies were carried out to produce a scientific publication that could provide solutive input for all parties in need at crucial times like this.

The search for topics was performed using various international scientific publications and reviews of MIT SMR articles in the period 2018-2020 as sources. The  content of the articles was then clustered, analyzed and then tabulated into several topics.

Six main topics were identified from the study results, namely (1) Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, Automation, (2) Culture, Leadership and Change, (3) Company Strategy and Disruption, (4) Miscellaneous, (5) Innovations, and (6) Talent management.

Artificial Intelligence, digitalisation and automation are the most discussed topics in MIT SMR.  (hjtp)
