Jakarta, 02/10/2020 The Body of Prof. Dr. Johannes Baptista (JB) Sumarlin was handed over from the family to the Government in the Dhanapala Hall of the Ministry of Finance on Monday (10/02). The ceremony took place at 09.00 WIB after the family held a mass at the Catholic Church, Jakarta.

Prof. Dr. Johannes Baptista (JB) Sumarlin is a Professor at the University of Indonesia Faculty of Economics and Business. Sumarlin’s career in the Ministry of Finance was initiated since the Sumarlin I breakthrough in 1987. At that time he was the Chairperson of Bappenas and the Minister of Finance ad interim. The Sumarlin I breakthrough was monetary tightening by raising interest rates on Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI). The breakthrough was carried out by the government and Bank Indonesia to overcome the Indonesian economy facing difficulties.
