FEB UI Accounting Student Team Wins 2nd Deloitte Tax Challenge 2020

Deloitte Tax Challenge (DTC) is a tax case competition held by Deloitte for undergraduate students throughout Indonesia aimed at testing tax knowledge.
FEB UI’s accounting student team, Ainun Nisa Fitri (Accounting 2017), Joshua Timothy (Accounting 2016), Ruth Brenda (Accounting 2017), and Theresia Niki (2017) won 2nd place in the Deloitte Tax Challenge 2020 event.

Deloitte Tax Challenge is also an annual competition that takes the topic of international taxation held by Deloitte Indonesia. This event aims to test students’ knowledge about international business, operations and tax strategies.

“The competition begins with submitting a video on Tax Reform in Indonesia, then the 12 best teams advance to the semifinals of January 8, 2020 at the Deloitte Indonesia office. In the Semifinal we worked on a tax case for two hours, then we presented our solution for 10 minutes and continued Q&A with the judges for 5 minutes. The 6 best teams then advanced to the Final round on January 22, 2020, “said Ainun.

“In this final round, a case is done in 150 minutes, with a case that is more complex than the semifinals. While the presentation time is longer (15 minutes), “he added.

“After participating in this competition, we can learn more about taxation issues both at national and international levels. Besides that, he also had the opportunity to be able to interact and get direct feedback from practitioners who are experts in their fields, “he said.

“Challenging, but bringing a lot of value added at the same time,”

“We hope that next year there will be FEB UI students who take part in this competition and bring another victory, if possible to the Southeast Asia level. Besides that, hopefully in the future more and more FEB students can make remarkable achievements so that they can make the name of FEB both national and international, “he concluded.
