DEPOK – Department of Accounting FEB UI on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 organized a training about 7 steps to making a great presentation at Auditorium of International Program (KKI) FEB UI. The guest speaker was Mr. Sebastian Sharp author of the same title book “7 Steps to Making a Great Presentation”. While the representatives of FEB UI were attended by Dr. Ancella A. Hermawan, CA., MBA (Head of Department of Accounting) and Dr. Dyah Setyaningrum, M.S.M., CPMA., CA (Head of Undergraduate Program in Accounting). There were also students attended the training.

The training was opened by Dr. Dyah Setyaningrum, she told the training objectives, which is to sharpen presentation skills and become a pro at presenting, to the audiences. Then, the training began with presentation from the guest speaker, Mr. Sebastian Sharp. Before explaining the steps, he told the “why” people around the world do presentations with the facts he got from his experiences. Then, he revealed common mistakes people made when creating a presentation and advised tips to overcome the mistakes.

At the awaited session, Mr. Sebastian explained step-by-step the 7 steps on how to make a great presentation. First, he stated the importance of making plan before start doing anything. After that, it is necessary to have a proper research or brainstorm with friends to generate ideas, we can later write those ideas on a script. To better portray the ideas, it is good to convert our ideas and data to some charts. Also, it can be meaningful to attach photos, videos, and other media that related to the presentation topics. Lastly, he emphasized the importance of practices before the show or presenting our ideas.

We all hope that the training can give insights to students who attended the session on how to make a great presentation. Since students face the demand to be able to present their ideas, paper or assignment well in the class. Also, it can be helpful to after campus life so students can deliver their ideas nicely to customers, directors, and investors. (Des)
