JAKARTA – Wednesday (11/3),  Zozibini Tunzi (Miss Universe 2019) and Ayu Maulida (Puteri Indonesia 2020) shared their inspiring experiences and ideas about “Women Empowerment”. This public lecture was held in Auditorium MM FEB UI, Salemba Campus.

Secretary of the University, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., gave the opening remarks and the session was moderated by Roy Darmawan as lecturer at FEB UI.

Puteri Indonesia 2020 in her sharing session said, “Women should be well-educated, promote women’s emancipation, not be afraid of social inequalities, uphold the reputation of Indonesia to the international level, care for  the environment, dare to dream for ourselves, family, and nation”.

Miss Universe 2019 then emphasized that Women Empowerment is not an issue only of  women but also of all societies, which  related to the definition of ‘collective individualism’. “We are now the generations who dare to speak our mind, and we need to take men into the conversations that we need to help each other on Women Empowerment and Gender Equality,” according to Zozibini.

Zozibini said, “Women indeed can be leaders as they can be sisters, mothers at home, and even the leaders at the office at one time. Women can make impact on society, the world. In the workplace, as a man, he should tell the woman that she is qualified and deserves that position. Men have the responsibility to get together with women and speak up about the women potentials”.

Zozibini added, ‘On this Women’s International Day, we can fight for something that we need to move forward. We should continue to empower each other. Men and women are basically different, all individuals have different characteristics, and those are what make us great. But we are all equal, women are not better than men and men are not better than women. It is our job as future generations to figure out how we can take this chance and the different characters work for everyone’.

Zozibini was very happy to see so many women can get higher education in Indonesia when she saw many women from Magister Manajemen (Graduate Management program) attended this session. It means that Indonesia allows women to be well-educated, unlike any other left-behind countries which still restrict women to get higher education. “We hope this kind of session could be held again on another occasion to inspire the society”, said Zozibini as she closed her session.
