Hello, FEB!
On Tuesday (15/10), FEB UI held a guest lecture session on “Big Data in Economics” in KKI Auditorium. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Joe F.Hair, Jr (Distinguished Professor of Marketing at the University of South Alabama) and opened by Prof. Dr. Irwan Adi Ekaputra, he also was the moderator during this session.
To begin the main session, Dr. Hair told the explanation about Big Data and its driving factors. There are many factors that can drive a raise of Big Data such as online platform, online transactions, and behavior. He also told that Big data can support new data analytics techniques because it can improve the understanding of data and its underlying pattern. Another benefit that Big Data offers is improving consumer interfaces because big data has a significant role in the consumer decision making process. It can provide many relevant information and choices for consumers. At the end of the session, Dr. Hair explained about some challenges in using decision models and data analytics in the future.
Thank you Dr. Hair for visiting and sharing the valuable insight to us. Hopefully the session can be beneficial and bring new perspective for the participants. (iofeb/Yasmin)
